About

mPOWEr is a patient-centered approach in post-discharge surgical site infection surveillance. When patients are discharged they can communicate with their provider and track their wound via our flexible, mobile-first interface. Heather Evans, Associate Professor of Surgery at University of Washington, developed mPOWEr as a result of witnessing first-hand the limitations of the current method for post-discharge care and communication.

For more information about mPOWEr, please see the mPOWEr project site.

mPOWEr is based on the "cPRO" platform. cPRO is an open-source "computerized patient-reported outcome" implementation. cPRO projects comprise a series of flexible web-based interactive health assessments and interventions, built on a common platform developed for funded research activities over the last decade. Efforts in this area have led to the development of a platform that is unique in meeting the needs of both patients and researchers. Dozens of cPRO systems have been deployed for use by clinical and research teams domestically and internationally.

To learn more about cPRO, see the cPRO project website

What is mPOWEr?
mPOWEr is an application you can use to track your wound and communicate with your doctor and other members of your healthcare team.

What do you mean by "tracking your wound"?
When you track your wound, mPOWEr will ask a series of questions related to your wound and how you feel in general. You can take photos of your wound area and upload them so your doctor can see your progress.

What device can I use with mPOWEr?
mPOWEr is designed to be used on a smart phone, such as an iPhone or Android-based phone. But you can also use a tablet or any desktop computer with a recent web browser.

When should I use mPOWEr?
When you're discharged your provider may request that you track your wound at a certain frequency. Otherwise use it whenever you have concerns or see changes in your wound.
